On June 27, employees of Missouri’s Springfield-Branson National Airport hopped in a van and headed across the tarmac to get to a barbecue. That must have been some famous BBQ, because whoever was driving the van had to floor it to avoid an airplane bearing down on them as it took off.
Reports say the driver conceded that he may not have looked both ways before crossing the runway, and was alerted to the plane’s presence when one of the passengers yelled, “Oh, s**t!”.
Couple of things:
- If you find yourself driving a minivan full of co-workers across an airport runway…that’s a really good time to look both ways.
- If you’re a passenger in said minivan, that’s a really good time to be more specific!
