The Guess Who has never gone away.
But for a lot of fans, the *real* Guess Who did long ago.
In a monumental business gaffe, the band had never registered the name, so one day after Burton Cummings left the band, Jim Kale registered it.
Since then, some version of the band has been on the road under the Guess Who name with original members Jim Kale and Garry Peterson, and animosity among the Peterson/Kale contingent and Cummings (mainly) has festered.
Cummings feels that is disingenuous.
Whichever side of that philosophical argument you come down on, this version of the Guess Who is releasing a new album, and video for the first single has been released. The album, titled The Future IS What It Used To Be” comes out September 14th, and features guest appearances by Tommy Shaw (Styx) on vocals, Winnipeg’s Brent Fitz (Slash, Gene Simmons) percussion, Jim Kale and Michael Devin (Whitesnake) on bass guitar.
The very hooky first single is called Playin’ On The Radio.
