Recently, the Winnipeg Free Press published a story on Winnipeg restaurants that are still serving and have been around forever.
The response to that article sparked a follow-up, with people reminiscing about some of Winnipeg’s most iconic restaurants that have passed into the lore of the city.
Some of them haven’t been gone long (The Paddlewheel, Kelekis, Alycia’s), others I recall (remember Caesar’s Palace at Polo Park?), and some I’ve never heard of.
The Beefeater was where my buddies and I took our dates for dinner the night of our Grade 9 grad party.
