Yesterday, Roger Waters announced details on his new album Is This The Life We Really Want?. Today, we got the first single, Smell The Roses. Close your eyes, put on your headphones, and let this song take you back to the 1970’s and imagine you are in a world where Pink Floyd still exists. Roger Waters’ bass work on the track chugs along, it’s got dogs barking, it’s got a beautiful synth vibe, and while the song is missing the one-of-a-kind guitar tone of David Gilmour, it really captures the feeling of ‘Animals’ era Pink Floyd.
Check it out.
Is This The Life We Really Want?, Waters’ first album of rock songs since 1992’s Amused to Death, is out June 2.
