One of many great traditions that makes The Masters such a special event is the Champion’s Dinner.
It happens at Augusta National, and all previous living champions attend (when possible), wearing their champions’ green jackets, and commune together, sharing experiences, stories and advice.
The dinner is held in honour of the previous year’s champion, and is always held on the Tuesday evening prior to the unofficial start of festivities the next morning with the Wednesday Par 3 Contest.
The guest of honour chooses the menu, and as a six-time champion, Jack Nicklaus was at the dinner last night. He posted this image to his Facebook page of the menu from his dinner 30 years ago.
Incidentally, the cover on Nicklaus’ page is a poignant, sentimental shot of his great friends and fellow legends Gary Player, and the late Arnold Palmer standing in the sunshine together at a previous dinner.
