When Apollo 11 landed on the moon almost 50 years ago (!!), the computing power on board to help get the astronauts there and back was less than the average calculator you were using in math class just a few years later.
Now, go back to the late 50s, and the selection of the first class of astronauts – the so-called “Mercury 7”.
How did NASA choose those men? Through a rigorous battery of tests that measured their physical, psychological, and intellectual fitness for the job.
Popular Science recently recreated a few of those tests for you to test whether you might have fit the Mercury 7 mold.
