We’re into list season, and if you’re a gadget geek like me, that means someone has been compiling a list of gadgets that we’re likely to think are uber-cool, but many of which we’d never heard of.
In this case, the collection is curated by the tech nerds at Time, and it looks like – as dark as 2017 was in some social ways – on the tech front…the game was strong. Just a few examples from the list:
A DIY cook’s companion, “an induction cook top that syncs with the Tasty smartphone app to guide would-be chefs through different recipes.”
3D printed tires that are airless, eliminating the need to worry about pounds per square inch. Made from recycled materials to reduce waste. Also, (and this is kind of mind-blowing) 3D-printed treads that can be swapped in and out to accommodate various road conditions without the need to change the tire itself.
Glasses that let the blind see. This thing records hi-def video and then uses magnification, contrast and “proprietary algorithms” to enhance the imagery into images that the legally blind can see.
And, while perhaps not as altruistic as the previous entry, the one that might be my personal favourite, guilt-free ice cream. It’s apparently very flavourful, but contains just 360 calories…*per pint*! They’ve also enriched it with protein for good measure. Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winnah!!!
I was happy to stop right there, but you can check out the full list HERE.
