Ok, so Royal Protocol says you’re not supposed to touch the monarch…in this case, the Queen.
Fine and dandy. But what if she’s quite elderly, and she and Canada’s Governor General are about to descend some stairs, and he is possessed of common courtesy. What’s a gentleman to do?
Is it possible that the Queen whispered to the GG, “Yo, Dave…how ’bout a hand down the stairs. I’m a little shaky in these new pumps.”
I get that there is a protocol, and that its important to the tradition of the monarchy. You can’t just have people throwing an arm around Her Highness’s shoulder and asking to take a selfie…but the British press is going bananas over the breach.
