Have you ever established a “photo tradition”? You see it from time to time where a kid will wear the same thing in every school photo, or a parent will take the same first day of school photo with their kid(s) all the way through their school career.
I first saw something like it in Life magazine, where a dad took the same photo with his daughter ever year at the beach. She wore the same adult-sized swimsuit as a small child in the first one, and gradually, photo-by-photo and year-by-year, grew into it, until it fit her adult body in the last shot.
Pretty cool, I though, when my first-born was teeny, so I began that tradition, in a way. There were some location changes to the shots, but we took them every year, until one year when they were tweens or teens, they told me that they were uncomfortable taking them because they were wearing underwear underneath – for obvious reasons – which could be seen…so that was that.
These guys did a cool one, getting together for 35 straight years to recreate a photo they took at the beach in 1982.
