Stories continue to emerge of the heroism displayed by regular folks during the London attack last weekend, including an Australian nurse who was killed when she ran toward the developing carnage to help the victims.
There’s also Roy Larner. He’s a 47-year-old football (soccer) fan who was sitting in a pub having a few beer with his buddies when three attackers burst in, started hacking at people with foot-long blades, and yelling their slogans.
Buddy wasn’t having it. He rushed toward the group of deluded cowards, yelling his own slogan.
He’s a fan of the Millwall Lions football team, so he barked a variation of that team’s NSFW chant right back in the attackers faces, screaming “F*(& you! I’m Millwall!”, as he wielded the only weapon he had…his fists. He was severely cut, but will survive, and his actions that day no doubt saved many others from injury or death.
With a nod to his team, grateful Londoners have now dubbed him The Lion of London Bridge.
