One of the cool things about Stephen King’s books is that a lot of them tie together in subtle ways. Above, you can see a handy flow chart which details these connections. Pretty cool, huh?
However, what this chart doesn’t include is The Dark Tower universe, which has A TON of connections to many of King’s books. You can check out a full list of those connections here
This week, the long-awaited trailer for the long-awaited film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower was released. The film is about Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), the last Gunslinger, who is locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim (Matthew McConaughey), also known as the Man in Black. The Gunslinger must prevent the Man in Black from toppling the Dark Tower, the key that holds the universe together. With the fate of worlds at stake, two men collide in the ultimate battle between good and evil.
What’s cool about this trailer is that it has a couple of nods to other Stephen King films. The first photo below is taken from the psychiatrists office. He has a photo of the Overlook Hotel from The Shining on his desk.
The second photo is taken as the kid in the movie walks through the forest. As you can see, there are balloons and the damaged sign spells out ‘PENNYWISE’, who is the evil clown from IT.
I’m a sucker for this kind of ‘easter egg’ stuff and it will be interesting to see how many more of King’s books are tied into The Dark Tower when it hits theatres this August!
