I’m a Pink Floyd guy in general, but I’m also a fan of lots of different types of music.
At the lake in front of the fire with a good book, Ella Fitzgerald floats my boat.
“Waltz of the Flowers” from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite is one of may favourite pieces of music of all time. The French horns…
Rush, The Hip, AC/DC, Eagles. All of it.
Local roots and folk artists like Red Moon Road and Sol James? Love ’em.
But if I had to live the rest of my life on a desert island with only one song to have along…it has to be Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb”.
Doesn’t matter which version. It doesn’t even have to be PF or Roger Waters. There’s just something about the song. If David Gilmour is playing on it, so much the better.
I’ll be on a solo camping trip next week in my beloved Utah red rock country, hiking, reading, writing, and…using a combination of an app called Amplitube, a set of good headphones and my bass, I can play along with any song, any band, anywhere.
So, my plan is to find a cliff overlooking a stunning canyon and bliss out playing Comfortably Numb at sunset.
This is the specific overlook I’ve got pinpointed to try to get to. It has the right Pink Floyd-esque grandeur, don’t you think?
I can’t wait.
What’s your “desert island song”?
