‘K.V. Switzer’ was actually, Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to complete in the all-male race. In order to do so, Switzer had to register as “K.V.” to hide her gender. That picture shows why, hey?! Like that’s insane. Those people hunting her down and pushing her? Fellow runners, spectators AND yup, even a Boston Marathon official…
Flash 50 years later to April 17, 2017 and there’s Kathrine Switzer, now 70, competing in the race like everyone else…ya know, not being hunted down for “being different”.
