Calling all Winnipeg history buffs who love to read stories about what life was like here in the city in the early 1900’s. Two books that I recommend are ‘The Boy from Winnipeg’ by author James H. Gray. He was born in Winnipeg in 1906 and eventually became a full time reporter for the Winnipeg Free Press. He has written several books, but this is my fave! Another book about Winnipeg in the good old days is ‘Wrinkled Arrows’ by Howard Dundas. This book is a little more playful and some of his stories may only be half true, but it is centered around the Osborne Village area and the downtown core. VERY COOL. The are relatively short books so you can get through them quickly. They paint a picture of how things were in the city in a simpler but still complicated era.
