I don’t know about you, but when I heard that Mary Tyler Moore died, a part of me did too. I won’t go on and on here, but I really am deeply saddened. As a little girl, I was lucky enough (and maybe you were too) to watch her show when they were new. From the opening song and hat toss, to closing credits, I wouldn’t miss a beat. The truth is I have never ever stopped watching the show and have passed the love of her and her show and her talents on to my little one. When my little girl can’t sleep, she always asks to put on ‘a Mary’,( meaning ,put on an episode on You Tube) My mother, Marjorie, who was on TV here in Winnipeg since my earliest memories, was also part of the reason I could relate to the show. My mom was one of a handful of women in television back in the 70’s and when I would visit her station as a kid and young adult, I could see even then, that it was definitely a man’s world. And she rocked it. Mary Tyler Moore was more than a talented TV star to many, she was someone to look up to. And she was DARN FUNNY TOO. You will be missed Mary but never forgotten.
